I'm
trying to start my own business. I'm recently married, 26 years old and
have just quit my old job as a sales rep for a high tech company. I have
a passion for fishing and am thinking of opening a shop. In the city
where I live, there are no competitors. Everyone I talk to says its a
great idea. My research says there is decent demand for my services. I
even have saved enough money and have other people who are interested in
investing. My problem is this. I can't seem to get out of my own way. I
keep procrastinating, surfing the web and distracting myself. My
business plan gets stuck and then I start to feel depressed. Can you
recommend a course of action for me?
Dear
James,
I
apologize for the delay in answering you. We have been involved with
some redesigning of our web site.
The
concerns you are raising are often associated with new ventures.
Although we often may be eager to explore new territories, many times we
also have a concern about risk and change. This creates an inner tension
that may lead to a sense of lethargy. The use of a coach can often help
an individual find the energy to move on with the changes needed. I
would encourage you to seek out a coach with whom you feel comfortable.
There is a wide range of individuals who use the term of coach, so it is
important to clarify what you want from a coach and pursue finding an
individual who seems able to provide that support for you.
